Come in to sample the squash blossoms tempura battered, with crab stuffing and a miso dipping sauce. On a side note, Rudy’s been loving’ her CSA through the farm. Every Thursday feels like Christmas morning, with little gifts from the garden… and she swears the kids were eating kohlrabi and fava beans last night. Check out all the good work they’re doing on their website, or stop by the farm on Jacob’s Lane in Norwell. 10568798_915881361760733_8824754223233046163_n   11722592_1109753559040178_8074652844251070952_o   And you can always swing by Hornstra for an ice cream on the way home, look out on the fields and think how lucky we are to live where we do.   10327036_10152406147962460_784915048_n

We’re here for you otherwise, open tonight and Sunday… Pick up some take out for the beach, order prepared food for your BBQ, or just stop by for a Black Rock Lemonade and a bite on the way home from the shore. We’ve got dollar oysters tonight at the bar from 4:30-6:30 to help kick off the festivities!
BELBER: Scapes Spruce Up Local Fare July 1, 2015 Here at the Corner Stop, the only thing that makes us happier than bringing local farms to table is to bring school gardens to table. Our friends at Holly Hill have been doing sacred work for years getting school children’s hands dirty and and giving them an appreciation of sustainable farming. We’re proud to play a part through our composting program, feeding the earth that feeds us. Come in to taste the fruits of their labor with Walnut Crusted Halibut + Garlic Scapes + Yukon Gold Puree.  Read Jonny’s column here…

1619487_10153520982460757_463928582306204305_n   Janice from Holly Hill farms showed up today with a pile of garlic scapes grown at Hingham High School, making us pretty giddy… 11048698_10153520982245757_2737039666855158732_n   If you’re not familiar with garlic scapes, they’re the flower stalk of the garlic plant that are usually cut to allow the plant to focus its energy on the bulb.  Besides being nearly too pretty to eat, the garlic scapes are delicious, with a milder garlic flavor and a slight sweetness.  We’re thinking Garlic Scape Pesto for the Halibut…

10325774_276071912570699_3457611776871428236_n   For those still scrambling, we’ve got a few reservations left for Mother’s Day… and some advice for the perfect day from our resident mom: Step 1: Let her sleep in. No… breakfast in bed does not make up for waking her. Step 2: Start with some quality family time… a hike, a bike ride, a visit to the beach. Just make sure you’re the one doing all the packing and organizing. Step 3: Nourish her. What mom wants to cook and clean on Mother’s Day? Treat her right by taking her out for a delicious meal. That’s where we come in… We’re serving lunch from 10:30-2:30 with special brunch additions and dinner from 5-8. Added bonus- you keep the kids happy. Step 4: Spoil her. Something indulgent like a massage, that bag she’s been eyeing or a gift certificate to her fave store. Step 5: Leave her alone. Sometimes some peace and quiet and down time are the best gifts you can give a mom. It’s free play time and what mom doesn’t dream about that?!
IMG_5393   Mother’s Day is just just around the corner. What’s your family’s happy place? We’re now taking reservations for lunch with special brunch menu additions from 10:30-2:30, and Dinner 5-8. Trust us… She does not want to be cooking and cleaning on that day! We’ll help you treat her right and keep the kids happy.
earth-day-300x289   Hope you had a Happy Earth Day! Thought we’d share just a few ways we love our Mother at The Corner Stop… * We collect all our kitchen scraps and coffee grinds and, once a week, our good friend Jonny from Holly Hill Farm picks it up to add to their luscious compost pile. * Our fryer oil is collected and processed into biodiesel fuel. * We recycle everything we possibly can- bottles, cans, plastic, cardboard… You’d be surprised how many restaurants choose not to. * Our takeout supplies are fully biodegradable. Sure, there are easier ways of doing things, but it’s important to us to have our business reflect our values.
