Hingham residents Jenny Barrett and Alison Baldwin will be there as Beautycounter consultants, a line of high performing, safe beauty products for the entire family. It was created by a mother concerned about the chemicals in her cosmetics and health and beauty aids and possible links to cancer.  It’s something we all think about, and Beautycounter has created a line of extraordinary products to answer those concerns…

Amazing. We picked our lucky winners and will be contacting them today. And if you’re interested, we are still planning a Lera Jewels trunk show just in time for the holidays with a portion of the proceeds being donated to BCRF.  It’ll be a fun girls’ night out- Stay tuned for a date… With bottomless gratitude, Rudy & Ron Vale

“Breast cancer was nowhere on my radar,” said Vale, who owns the Corner Stop Eatery at the junction of Hingham, Cohasset, and Hull with her husband, Ron. She was only 45 when a routine mammogram revealed the terrifying truth: she was the one in eight.”  Read More…

IMG_6306 Starting today, we’ll be donating 10% of sales for the entire month of October to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation… So gather up some friends and find any excuse to come in. It’s time to get your pink on! In October of 2014, nearly a year after opening The Corner Stop with my husband Ron, I was stunned to find myself diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram. DSC_3069a   It’s been a journey, but after three surgeries, chemo and radiation, I’ve completed my treatment and am feeling strong and ready to make a difference. 1 in 8 women Is diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime…. our mothers, daughters, wives, and friends…. 1 in 8, and men are not immune.  As with all cancers, early detection is everything. IMG_5090   As I often say, I was the poster child for someone you’d never suspect of getting breast cancer- I don’t smoke, rarely drink, exercise for hours a day, eat well, breast fed both my children, and have cancer nowhere in my family, much less breast cancer… and yet it came knocking. Cancer by its very definition is arbitrary and it’s important to remain vigilant. Fortunately, there is a highly effective screening for breast cancer- a mammogram- but you have to show up. As my radiologist said, I was a textbook case for why they recommend annual mammograms. It was caught early, and I am where I am today because I did just that- I showed up. I’m hoping to use the restaurant and its connection to our local community as a platform for fundraising and awareness. We were the beneficiaries of extraordinary kindness and grace from friends, family, and our community, and we’re ready to pay it forward. Please help us spread the word and join us for what promises to be an incredibly uplifting month at the restaurant. With bottomless gratitude, Rudy Vale
We were proud to have been a part of this extraordinary night- The Farm to Fork Dinner at Norwell Farms. It was a kicking’ party with great energy, a beautiful setting, delicious food, and dangerously tasty craft cocktails. Our advice is to mark your calendars next year- You won’t want to miss it. Hats off to our friends at Norwell Farms for doing it so right.12068703_1158939747454892_44914652751743372_o   Chef Sam created a Norwell Farms Heirloom Tomato and Roasted Corn Salad with Goat Cheese Crema and Peekytoe Crab Salad, served on toasted Francese bread… a delicious taste of late summer. IMG_6289   The farmers we have to thanks for reminding us what real fruits and vegetables can taste like…. the lovely Elise and Scott Franklin, looking dashing in their decidedly unfarmer garb.   IMG_6290
