Our October fundraiser is going strong, nearly half way through. As a reminder, we donate 10% of our sales and sell raffle tickets all month long to raise funds for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. We wanted to share this short video, describing Rudy’s breast cancer story, and our decision to use the restaurant as a platform for fundraising and awareness. It was produced by the indomitable Nicole Chryssicas of South Shore Health and Jay Dobek of Last Minute Productions. We are forever grateful to them for helping get our message out. We appreciate the support you’ve shown simply by coming in, or purchasing a raffle ticket. If you’re unable to make it and would like to contribute, we’ve set up a donation button on our website. Thank you endlessly, Rudy & Ron Vale

IMG_6306   Starting October 1st, we’ll be donating 10% of sales for the entire month of October to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation… So gather up some friends and find any excuse to come in. It’s time to get your pink on!  We’ll also be selling raffle tickets with some cool prizes for a direct donation of $20.  Over the last two years, with your support and enthusiasm, we were able to raise $46,000… and we know we can outdo ourselves! In October of 2014, nearly a year after opening The Corner Stop with my husband Ron, I was stunned to find myself diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram. DSC_3069a It’s been a journey, but after three surgeries, chemo and radiation, I’ve completed my treatment and am feeling strong and ready to make a difference. 1 in 8 women Is diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime…. our mothers, daughters, wives, and friends…. 1 in 8, and men are not immune.  As with all cancers, early detection is everything. IMG_5090   As I often say, I was the poster child for someone you’d never suspect of getting breast cancer- I don’t smoke, rarely drink, exercise for hours a day, eat well, breast fed both my children, and have cancer nowhere in my family, much less breast cancer… and yet it came knocking. Cancer by its very definition is arbitrary and it’s important to remain vigilant. Fortunately, there is a highly effective screening for breast cancer- a mammogram- but you have to show up. As my radiologist said, I was a textbook case for why they recommend annual mammograms. It was caught early, and I am where I am today because I did just that- I showed up. I’m hoping to use the restaurant and its connection to our local community as a platform for fundraising and awareness. We were the beneficiaries of extraordinary kindness and grace from friends, family, and our community, and we’re ready to pay it forward. Please help us spread the word and join us for what promises to be an incredibly uplifting month at the restaurant.   Cinco de Mayo falls on a Friday this year and we are ALL in. We’ll be serving up killer craft margaritas made from scratch… blood orange, blackberry and traditional… or some Liquid Sunshine. Only freshly squeezed lemons and limes go into our house made mixes (thank you, barkeeps!). You’ll not only taste the difference… but feel the difference the the next day. Chef Sam will be slinging Shrimp Ceviche, Mexican Street Corn, Bar Nachos, and Tuna Poke Tacos to help you soak up all that tequila. So come in and fiesta like there’s no mañana…
Mother’s Day is May 14th… What’s your family’s happy place? We’re now taking reservations for lunch with brunch menu additions from 10:30-3:00, and dinner 5-8. Trust us… She does not want to be cooking and cleaning on that day! We’ll help you treat her right and keep the kids happy.
Happy Earth Day! Thought we’d share just a few ways we love our Mother at The Corner Stop… * Our fryer oil is collected and processed into biodiesel fuel. * We recycle everything we possibly can- bottles, cans, plastic, cardboard… You’d be surprised how many restaurants choose not to. * We collect all our kitchen scraps and coffee grinds and give them to our good friends at Holly Hill Farm to add to their luscious compost pile. * Our takeout supplies are fully biodegradable or made from recycled materials. * We support and source produce from local sustainable farms, like Holly Hill and Norwell Farms. Sure, there are easier ways of doing things, but it’s important to us to have our business reflect our values.
